Seen & Heard: Chambers Construction

••• There does indeed appear to be work going on (or at least demolition) in the old Bouley Bakery & Market space.

••• From the Lower Manhattan Construction Command Center: “Starting Monday, September 26, 2011, Chambers Street between West Broadway and Church will be made one-way westbound for approximately 18 months.”

••• Also from the LMCCC, an update on the Fulton Transit Center: “The past few weeks has seen ascendant steel rising into a cylindrical form at the corner of Broadway and Fulton Street. The Fulton Street Transit Center oculus is soon to top out at 110 feet above street level, and by the end of the year the Metropolitan Transportation Authority plans to begin cladding the uniquely luminescent structure.”

••• Last night, I was walking by the storefront at 50 Thomas that’s behind Crewcuts, on Thomas, and lights were on. I could barely see a crystal chandelier…. I had written off the restaurant (Emporio 50?) that had been planned for there, but maybe I shouldn’t have….

  1. i still miss Bouley Bakery and Market place! I hope something good comes in!

(Then again, I still miss Ceci Cela, and that space – on Chambers – has been empty for ages!)

  2. Liat: I guess you blinked and missed the tea shop that was in that space after Ceci Cela. It’s okay, your didn’t really miss anything good.
