Moomah is Closing

Here’s a shocker: Tribeca favorite Moomah is closing! The full statement from founder Tracey Stewart:

“With a heavy heart and butterflies in our stomach, Moomah Cafe in Tribeca will be closing its doors on April 1, 2012 to pursue a new venture. Stay tuned at moomah.com for the announcement of an exciting new non-profit organization that will take the best of Moomah and broaden it’s scope and reach. Moomah.com will continue and even expand as a resource for creative parenting and Do-It-Together art projects for parents and kids. Being part of this neighborhood has been so fulfilling and enjoyable. Please join us often over the next couple months as we celebrate what has been a truly incredible experience.”

I’ve put a call in to see if I can squeeze any more details out of her. Stay tuned….

UPDATE: No call back. I stopped by to get a coffee, and I did learn that Moomah isn’t giving up the space.

  1. Such a fantastic & sunny addition to the neighborhood. Sorry to see her go but certain she has great plans for phase II.

  2. We love Moomah, very sad to see it go.

  3. boooo…such a shame, we love moomah and were so chuffed when we moved in just around the corner…though I have always slightly wondered how they made money. Fingers crossed the loss is only temporary and there’ll be something else exciting happening for us and the lovely staff.

  4. There has to be a way to save some of these businesses. We loved taking the walk to Moomah and already miss it in the neighborhood. We are hoping that the next iteration is as good for children as the last.
