Bikram Yoga NYC Has Found a Space in Tribeca

A tipster sends word that Bikram Yoga NYC is planning a new studio at 158 Duane, New York Nautical’s old space (across the street from Khe-Yo and Weather Up Tribeca). It had tried to open at 8 Jay (at the corner of Staple), where signmaker Artflag is now, but that deal fell through when the residents decided they had concerns about the heat. (Bikram yoga is done in a room that’s around 105 degrees, with 60% humidity.)

I emailed the company to see if it was ready to share any details, such as when the new studio might open.

Bikram Yoga NYC’s website describes the practice as “a series of twenty-six Hatha Yoga postures and two Pranayama breathing techniques designed to provide a challenging, invigorating, rejuvenating and effective yoga experience. During this 90-minute class, you will work every muscle, tendon, ligament, joint and internal organ in the entire body, giving you an incredible sense of well being.”

  1. Don’t scare everyone! It’s only 40% humidity, 60% would make even the strongest among us crying into our mats. Can’t wait to see the space!

  2. Better yet, there is an amazing New Bikram studio in East Tribeca at 404-406 Broadway. Spanking new, amazing owners, gorgeous studio space and the best vibe, casual and fun yet serious about practice and great instructors. #bikram yoga soho
