In the News: More for the Tribeca Design District

NORDIC KNOTS ON CANAL
Wallpaper notes that Nordic Knot, the Swedish rug company, has taken a space on the north side of Canal at Greene, next to Canal Street Rubber. This is its first international boutique, designed by Studio Giancarlo Valle. The company was founded in 2016 by Liza Berglund Laserow and Fabian Berglund, two former New Yorkers.

GOLDEN MALL TO OPEN IN FIDI
Eater reports that Flushing’s Golden Mall is opening at 47 Broadway, south of Rector, according to an Instagram post from Golden Mall. From Eater: “The food court, which first opened in Flushing in 1990 and showcased a variety of regional Chinese food stalls, gained citywide notoriety from the late greats, Anthony Bourdain and Jonathan Gold, among other food celebrities — who heralded it at the time for being unlike any other food court in town. Most notably, it was the original home of Xi’an Famous Foods, that gave a springboard for the noodle spot to become one of the city’s preeminent homegrown chains.”

DOWNTOWN DESTINATIONS FOR DESIGN LOVERS
The Times makes a list of 10 destinations for design lovers, and the Warren Street Hotel and PAC NYC make the list, along with Tiffany’s and the new wing of the Natural History Museum. The PAC was designed by Tribecan Joshua Ramus.

NEW TRIBECA HOME FOR COLONY
Surface features Colony gallery’s new home in Tribeca, on Varick and Franklin. From Surface: “With newfound perspective and a clearly defined motive, Lin launched Colony in a rough-hewn Canal Street loft.
