Seen & Heard: Los Lobos at Rockefeller Park

LOS LOBOS AT ROCKEFELLER
Multi-Grammy winning artists Los Lobos will play at Rockefeller Park as part of the River & Blues festival on Thursday, July 11, starting at 7:30. Doors open at 6:30; DJ Reagonomics (yes, that’s his or her name) will start at 7p. The band — 50 years old out of East LA — combines Tejano, son jarocho, and norteño with folk, country, rock ‘n’ roll and punk. More here.

DAILY GROCER CLOSING FOR SUMMER
The Daily Grocer, the meal kit spot on Warren and West Broadway, is closing for the summer. “We are doing this with the plan and hope to open a better and more complete version of The Daily Grocer in the future,” the note on Instagram said. “That means a larger offering that changes more often and a greater selection of prepared foods.” Here’s hoping.

COSTA RICAN ARTIST AT WARREN STREET GALLERY
Costa Rican artist Enio Arroyo Gomez will have a show at On The Fringe at 72 Warren from July 10 to 16, 10a to 10p. The opening reception is Friday, July 12, at 5 to 10p. Enio was trained as a sculptor and scenographer at the National University of La Plata in Argentina. His journey as a painter started by chance in 2007 during a theatre residency at the University of the Arts Utrecht in the Netherlands. More information here.

PIER 42 PLAYGROUND OPENS TODAY
Not exactly our neck of the woods, but I was always willing to travel for a new Downtown playground: The Parks Department is cutting the ribbon this morning on the Pier 42 playground on South Street at Montgomery, between the Manhattan and Williamsburg bridges. The playground has separate areas for different age groups, climbing features, musical play instruments, spray showers and swings; plus there’s fitness equipment, sports courts, a comfort station with a green roof, ADA compliant bathrooms with changing stations and water fountains, solar powered security lighting, and benches.
