Something to remember for next year: Single tickets for the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival go on sale today, but smart Tribecans bought theirs yesterday. The TFF allowed residents who live below Canal Street early access, with tickets available at the box office at Tribeca Cinemas. (You had to bring proof of your zip code.) Buying tickets in person also saves you the $1.50–$2 service charge applied to online or phone purchases. This is one instance, however, when being a local isn’t enough to get you the best deal: American Express “cardmembers”—what does that word mean, anyway?—were allowed to buy tickets beginning on April 14.
