• Pomme, a chic store in DUMBO for children under 6, has opened an offshoot on Duane Street (right), in the tiny nook that was formerly Daisy Dog Studio.
• The Tribeca Trib reports that a chunk of the Tribeca section of the Hudson River Park (below) may be running into financing trouble: “The three-block-long portion [from Laight to No. Moore], linking the section under construction to the built park—slated to include a dog run and a landscaped esplanade with separate bike and foot paths—remains untouched, its completion date uncertain.” When the cost of the Downtown Boathouse slated
for Pier 26 was more than estimated, the three-block section got pushed to the back burner.
• Trattoria Cinque gets the “Good News/Bad News” treatment—a look at early reviews—from Eater. Our two cents from a visit last night: While the menu could be a tad more sophisticated, the Caesar salad is excellent and the prices are certainly reasonable.
• Only one Tribeca restaurant made the New York Times’s fall preview: Stuzzicheria, coming to the old Province space on Church Street (and previously noted in New York magazine’s fall preview). But two local ice-cream vendors—Griff’s Gelati (adjacent to Duane Park restaurant) and the Odeon—were featured in a “$25 and Under” roundup. And David Gordon (wine director at Tribeca Grill) and Joshua Nadel (beverage director at Locanda Verde) participated in the Times’s tasting of Oregon pinot noirs.
• Tribeca Trib took a helpful look at the five candidates for City Council.
• The Battery Park City Broadsheet mourned Yaffa’s, while the Tribeca Trib reported on the party held for employees on the restaurant’s final night.
• “The 15 condos atop the posh new Smyth Tribeca hotel at 85 West Broadway have returned to the market,” reports Curbed, “albeit a bit later than initially thought. And, in some cases, a whole lot cheaper!” Curbed also mocked Truffles Tribeca‘s new courtyard gate, likening it to a prison.
