• Washington Market Park is holding its first-ever square dance this Saturday, Sept. 12, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. (If your kids have never square-danced, you might be surprised how much they enjoy it.) Posters at the park say a rain location will be announced; the Friends of Washington Market Park website says the rain date in the following day. Let’s hope for sun.
• David Cleaver of the Tribeca Performing Arts Center sent a reminder that this month’s Tribeca Meet and Greet is Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It’ll be at the Capital One Bank branch located at the corner
of West Broadway and Chambers. Frankly Wines
has donated beverages and, says David, “there may be a few surprises.” The photo at right is from the July Meet and Greet. (I’m sorry I have to miss this one, but I’m pleased about the reason why—I’ll be vacationing in Italy.)
• The second-annual New York Surf Film Festival will be at Tribeca Cinemas September 25–27. Tickets, which cost $20 per screening (with discounted packages available) are already on sale at the Tribeca Cinemas website.
• CoStar Group reports that “Gap Inc. leased 265,083 square feet at 40 Worth St. [between Church and West Broadway] in New York from Newmark Knight Frank. The clothing retailer signed for a 20-year term on the 11th through 16th floors. The 16-story, 702,815-square-foot office tower [left] was built in 1927 in Tribeca.”
• Victor Ma of The Stuyvesant Spectator—by students at the school—reviewed Billy’s Bakery.
