• I’ll be posting Asha’s photos of Halloween later, but for now here was the best costume I saw all day (on a Grandaisy Bakery staffer; when I asked her name, she said, “Cap’n Crunch” like I was being dense). By the way, I bought a blueberry-jam-filled sandwich cookie that was delicious.
• Barnes & Noble Tribeca has some interesting authors stopping by this week. Wednesday: Stuart Hample with Jules Feiffer, authors of Dread and Superficiality: Woody Allen as Comic Strip; Thursday: Editors of the Onion, authors of Our Front Pages: 21 Years of Greatness, Virtue, and Moral Rectitude from America’s Finest News Source; Saturday: Chris Van Allsburg, author The Polar Express.
• Bad news: I heard through the grapevine that Nordic design store More North—clever name, given that it’s on North Moore Street—is closing in December. I’ll try to confirm that today. UPDATE 11/3: “Things are still up in the air,” says manager Jennifer Lindblad. “We can neither confirm nor deny that.”
• The New York Times calls on Tribeca resident Karole Armitage, a choreographer whose Itutu opens Wednesday at BAM.
• I just discovered the free iPhone app created by Pasanella and Son, the elegant wine store over at 115 South Street, in the Fish District. Called Salute!, it’s a collection of great toasts, organized by occasion. (Search for “Salute!” and you’ll find it.) Also, Pasanella and Son now has its own wine, Pasanella & Figlio.
• Last night, I literally squealed when I saw that Felix Gonzalez-Torres’s billboard with a black-and-white photo of an unmade bed was once again on view, above the north side of Canal Street. I assume this is a Creative Time project, and I’m looking into it. Photo to come at some point, but if you’re over there, check it out.
