11/4 News: Feeling Foxy?

• Hey, parents! A reminder that this Saturday marks the launch of the Tribeca Cinemas Kids Club, a fortnightly family-film series from the Tribeca Film Festival. This week’s 10:30 a.m. screening (for kids 3 and up) is a collection of short films; the 1:30 p.m. screening (7 and up) is Mad Hot Ballroom. Tickets are $7 for kids under 14 and $10 for adults, with a $2 per ticket double-feature discount. The next one (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) is Nov. 21 and tickets are available now.

courtesy-fantastic-mr-fox1• Also, this Sunday at 1 p.m., you can watch Wes Anderson’s new stop-motion-animation adaptation of Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr. Fox at Tribeca Cinemas with Mario Batali—it’s a benefit for his foundation—and kids’ music star Dan Zanes. Desserts and dancing. Adults, $150, kids $75.

• I received an emailed from Trattoria Cinque yesterday about how the restaurant was offering 50 percent off its fall menu if you reserved using a special code—unfortunately, the email came too late for me to forward. I’m only mentioning it now because it was exactly the kind of info I hope Tribeca Citizen can distribute, so if you own a local business, please give me the maximum heads-up!

• The Tribeca Trib covered the retirement of P.S. 234 fixture Kathy Sussell, “a mother (she was a school parent as far back as 1992), school aide, family assistant and finally parent coordinator,” and it also conducted an exit interview with Rocco and Electra Damato of Bazzini, which will shut its doors in January or February if the deal with Sarabeth’s goes to plan.
