6pm–8pm: Pen Parentis literary salon—which in this case means readings with drinks available for purchase—with Yona Zeldis McDonough (Breaking the Bank) and Ellen Umansky (left). At the Libertine Library at Gild Hall.
7pm: Day Time Drinking , part of a South Korean film series at Tribeca Cinemas: “A rapidly escalating farce that tweaks the humiliation-meter up and up and up and up as Hyuk-Jin, newly broken up with his girlfriend, finds himself bullied into drinking an infinite amount of soju in a series of progressively more surreal situations.”

TOMORROW, JAN. 13
7am: According to Notify NYC, there will be controlled blasting at the WTC site: “You may hear a series of loud bangs throughout the day.”
3pm–7pm: Beth McNeill (right) will open her otherwise-by-appointment gallery, Tribeca Project Space, in the lobby of Artisan Lofts at 143 Reade. The show, Plastic, Rubber + Wood, has been extended through Feb. 25 (and has some lovely pieces). Plus: drinks.
6:30pm: The CEC meeting about school zoning, which you may have heard a thing or two about in recent weeks. Wagner Middle School, 220 E. 76th St. (bet. Second and Third Aves.).
6:30pm: The Tribeca committee of CB1 meets at 49-51 Chambers, Room 709. On the agenda: Chambers Street water main construction. Bring ID, because we all know that terrorists don’t have driver’s licenses.

THURSDAY, JAN. 14
9pm: 92YTribeca has added a Comedy Below Canal show—or maybe it just announced who’ll be performing?—with Matt McCarthy, Katina Corrao, Myq Kaplan, Andrea Rosen, and more ($12).

FRIDAY, JAN. 15
8pm: Musicians Anna Dagmar and Emilie Cardinaux at 92YTribeca ($10). The former evidently blends into her music “a collage of noise, a lament for fallen soldiers, or an apocalyptic vision.”

SUNDAY, JAN. 17
10am: Health and wellness expert—and TC contributor—Marissa Vicario is leading a tour of Whole Foods, focusing on stocking a healthy kitchen and decoding food labels ($45).

Jan. 20: Tribeca Meet & Greet, where local business owners get together and civilians are welcome; at Hive at 55, the new shared-workspace at 55 Broad from the Downtown Alliance. 6:30pm–9pm.
Jan. 23: Tribeca Cinemas Kids Club will show The Shari Lewis Show (featuring Lamb Chop) and E.T., which I have a love-hate affair with because there are still people who call me that (my initials are E.T.); I can’t tell you how many times kids yelled “Phone home!” at me.
Jan. 28: New York Vintners hosts “An Evening of Vintage Piedmont: 1996–2001,” with Barolos and Barbarescos. $95
Mar. 3: Living legend Mose Allison plays City Winery.
