Seen & Heard: Moonshine!

benvenuto-by-tribeca-citizen••• I stopped by Benvenuto (right), the new deli on Greenwich, where Greenwich Steak & Burger was. It looks quite nice!

••• The rumor flying around is that New York Met John Franco will be at Downtown Little League‘s opening day festivities on Saturday. The parade starts at City Hall Park and goes west on Murray.

••• Pen Parentis‘s M.M. De Voe emailed from California to remind me to tell you that at the salon on Tuesday—with readings by Max Watman and Pushcart Prize–winner Anna Solomon—they’ll have moonshine. Moonshine! (We actually have some in my apartment, but we haven’t worked up the nerve to drink it yet.) That’s because Watman’s new book is Chasing the White Dog: An Amateur Outlaw’s Adventures in Moonshine.

archibald-by-tribeca-citizen••• I was walking down Franklin, after visiting Thirty Days NY (more on that in a bit), when I saw that Antik has rebranded itself as Hostler Burrows. Also, when I wasn’t looking, an ad agency called Archibald Ingall Stretton opened. It also has a neon sign that says Cake, which is just asking for trouble, if you ask me. When I see “Cake,” I expect cake, dammit!

••• John Hiatt will play City Winery on Sept. 25 and 26.
