Seen & Heard: Luka Bloom at City Winery

••• Today’s Living Social deal is $30 worth of food and drink at Brick (on Murray) for $15. It’s good for dine-in only; it expires Nov. 6; and you have until 4 a.m. to buy it. Also, the fine print says reservations are required…?

••• I somehow missed the River to River Festival schedule. Artists include Beth Orton, Burning Spear, Dan Zanes, and Yacht. Events start June 22.

••• On May 11, Moomah will celebrate its first birthday with balloons, cake, and an appearance by Supertryer (a superhero who inspires kids to try new foods).

41pmse0wh5l_sl500_aa300_••• Coming to City Winery: Ollabelle and special guests for a live rehearsal of the SummerStage 25th Anniversary Gala (featuring the music of Simon & Garfunkel) on June 7; John Hiatt (a third show has been added on Sept 28.); and Irish singer-songwriter Luka Bloom on Oct. 3. I used to love Luka Bloom! I was obsessed with the idea that he should cover Eddie Rabbitt’s “I Love a Rainy Night,” and when Bloom played at my college and asked for requests, I screamed, “I Love a Rainy Night!” I don’t think he had heard of the song. Anyway, Bloom’s cover of LL Cool J’s “I Need Love” is worth seeking out.

••• On May 19 from noon to 6 p.m., the New Museum will waive admission fees in honor of its building’s architects, SANAA, winning the Pritzker Prize; the seventh-floor Sky Room (usually open on weekends only) will also be open.”
