Still upset about Bouley Bakery closing? Takahachi Bakery, which soft-opens today at 25 Murray (just west of Church), might be just what you need to ease the pain. Besides all manner of breads and pastries, many with a Japanese touch (such as shiso or green tea), the bakery will serve sandwiches, salads, soups, and even homemade ice cream. Manager Kimie Kobayashi says it’ll be open over the weekend, then closed Monday and Tuesday and maybe Wednesday (while an elevator-related issue gets worked out). I’ll be back with a full report—and more photos— next week….

I can’ t wait to go there. Everything looks amazing. Congratulations!
I might have to hit this before departing…maybe I can get in a bakery review. :)
Thanks for the update! Stopped by today and we tried several things: ginger pork sandwich, croquette sandwich, peach sorbet, chocolate ice cream, choco/strawberry crunchies, financier and sesame cookie…all DELICIOUS! Bring cash because the credit card machines aren’t up-and-running, yet.
Walked past this yesterday and the final paint touches where being done.
Went there today – space is just gorgeous in that elegant and clean Japanese way.
Everybody was very welcoming and attentive.
Everything looks amazing – settled for a grilled vegetable sandwich and cappuccino. Sandwich was delicious and just the right size. Cappuccino could have been stronger for me.
Also bought a red bean paste bun and a pear turnover – which will be desert tonight. For sure they will also be delicious.
Great addition to the neighborhood !!
So looking forward to going there! will definitely stop by next week.
Stopped by yesterday great pastries fresh breads all good…
