19 Supereasy, Superlocal Father’s Day Gifts

••• A pair of pants from Grown & Sewn. I liked mine so much I bought another pair (the same model in the same color).

••• A class or a tour with New York Kayak Company, located on the south side of Pier 40; if he doesn’t mind a dunk in the Hudson, I heartily recommend stand-up paddleboarding. There’s also a shop, if you’re looking for something you can gift-wrap.

••• A bike or bike paraphernalia from Gotham Bikes or Adeline Adeline, depending on his style.

••• A copy of The Texture of Tribeca, available at Working Class. Andrew Scott Dolkart’s 1989 book gives an excellent historical overview of Tribeca’s architecture—including a glimpse of what’s been lost.

••• A straw hat from J. Crew’s Liquor Store.

••• A haircut and/or a manicure at John Allan’s.

••• A gorgeous bottle of Scotch from Chambers Street Wines.

••• A copy of Alan Furst’s new novel, Spies of the Balkans, from Mysterious Bookshop. Furst’s novels—all of which take place in the buildup to World War II—are utterly entertaining. If one book isn’t enough, consider enrolling him in one of Mysterious Bookshop’s Collecting Clubs, and he’ll get a signed first edition every month. (Spies of the Balkans is the June pick for the Thriller/Espionage Club.)

••• Happy Socks from Steven Alan.

••• A balloon bouquet from Balloon Saloon.

••• A Zamboni class at Battery Park City Ice Rink when it reopens in November.

••• A gift in his name to Friends of Hudson River Park. Those plant beds don’t weed themselves! Also, most parks have “Friends of” organizations, if he has a soft spot for some other park.

••• An axe from Best Made Co. This will probably go over better if you have a place in the country.

••• A fountain pen from Fountain Pen Hospital.

••• A cake from Tribeca Treats or Duane Park Patisserie.

••• A standing frame (with appropriate photo) from Steven Amedee Gallery & Fine Custom Framing.

••• A massage at Equinox or one of our many spas.

••• Dinner at whichever local restaurant he loves but doesn’t get to enough, whether it’s Churrasacaria Tribeca, City HallThalassa, Carl’s SteaksWolfgang’s Steakhouse, Sushi Azabu, Corton, Warren 77Marc Forgione, Dylan Prime, the PalmRosanjin, whatever. And maybe a pre- or postprandial drink at B Flat, Terroir Tribeca, Brandy Library, or Smith & Mills.

••• A Tribeca Citizen T-shirt.

I know which one I’d choose….
