New Pop-Up: CsillaWear

Designer Csilla Somogyi of CsillaWear is taking over 9 N. Moore* for a time (either Thursday through Saturday all summer, through July 31). Originally from Hungary—her name is pronounced chee-lah, “like cheetah with an L,” explained her partner, Jon Beirn, who was manning the store—Csilla has also lived in Africa, Mexico, and Texas, and as you can see below or on her website, her designs certainly have a global feel. Every piece is one-of-a-kind or limited-edition, and made on the Lower East Side. Beirn said they chose Tribeca because they already have some loyal customers in the neighborhood, and of course the space is appealing. (You may recall that they were there for 10 days in May.) If weekends don’t work for you, the shop is also open by appointment: Email jon@csillawear.com or call 917-304-9313.
