Of interest on the CB1 committee agendas this month: The discussion of the potential removal of the Winter Garden staircase is sure to be a contentious one at the BPC committee meeting; the seven-story building being proposed for the corner of Franklin and Varick (currently a vacant lot, above), coming before the Landmarks committee (as well as Cordoba House, again); and Josephine, the bakery and restaurant coming to 40 Harrison (pictured above), is requesting liquor-license approval from the Tribeca committee. No clue what the northeast corner of Broadway and Reade could warrant a resolution about (it’s on the Tribeca committee agenda)…. The security planter things—what are those called? the things that stop car bombers?—are annoying, but resolution-worthy? Or maybe it’s West Broadway, because the sidewalk on that block of West Broadway, between Duane and Reade, probably qualifies for federal disaster relief at this point. Note: CB1 adjourns for the month of August.
