••• From Notify NYC: “The Brooklyn Bridge will be closed to Manhattan-bound traffic overnight, beginning Monday, Aug. 23rd and will continue until 2014. All Manhattan-bound traffic will be detoured to the Manhattan Bridge or other crossings. All Brooklyn-bound traffic will be maintained, and there will be no closure of the pedestrian/cycling promenade. The bridge will be reopened for traffic in both directions each morning.” This PDF has more info, including times.

••• Cool event at Babesta Cribz on Sept. 11: Scissor artist Karl Johnson will cut silhouettes from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; they’re $25, and $15 for copies. I asked Babesta’s Jenn Cattaui if adults could sit, too, and she said, “Anyone with a head!” You can make an appointment for a five-minute interval.

••• New York Vintners announced two winemaker dinners: “On Friday, September 10, Franco Massolino [of Massolino-Vigna Rionda] will present his 1989 Vigna Rionda Riserva straight from the estate, along with several other of his world famous Baroli. Enjoy them along with a fantastic Piemonte inspired menu.” And: “On Saturday, September 11, Martin Foradori [of J. Hofstätter] will present the unbelievably enticing Hofstätter wines to be paired with a menu of fare from Alto-Adige in Northeastern Italy.” $125 each.
