New Kid on the Block: Pas de Deux

Formerly of Privé in Soho, Tomohiro Nakamoto (above) has just opened Pas de Deux salon on Worth Street with a partner, Masari Momose. “Tribeca is my favorite neighborhood,” he says. “Besides, most of my clients are here.” The space—formerly used for administrative purposes by the Eastern Athletic gym—has been designed by Nakamoto and Momose as a chic, spare retreat. The walls are bare and the ceilings are high, while fig trees, flower arrangements, and iron chandeliers add personality. Currently on staff: two stylists, two colorists, and one make-up artist, and there are plans to add two more stylists, another colorist, and a manicurist. Men’s haircuts are $80–$90; women’s are $100–$125. Stop by and check it out for yourself at Pas de Deux’s open house this Friday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Pas de Deux is at 79 Worth (between Broadway and Church); 212-274-0079, pasdedeuxsalon.com.
