2010 Shop-Local Gift Guide: Chambers and Reade

PHILIP WILLIAMS POSTERS
• Philip Williams Posters is a browser’s delight—here are some that caught my eye, but the joy of the place is discovering posters you feel a connection to (or simply like).

CHAMBERS STREET WINES
• If you’re a fan of San Pellegrino’s bittersweet Chinotto soda, you’ll love Cappellano’s Barolo Chinato, a digestif that I, personally, can’t get enough of. Plus, it comes in a pretty blue box ($83).

UNLEASHED BY PETCO
• Catnip Bubbles, perfect for diverting/tormenting your cat ($4.50).

TRIBECA TREATS
• Tribeca Treats offers all sorts of baskets, boxes, assortments, and tins full of goodies. DIY types, however, might prefer Sweet Chic ($28), the new cookbook by the bakery’s Rachel Schifter Thebault.
• Ballpark Bark is peanut brittle, pretzels, and marshmallows in milk chocolate, which is all you really need to know ($6.50 or $12).
• “Yummy” kid’s T-shirt ($5).
• Delectable stocking stuffer: brownies ($2).
• The bakery also sells stylish gift wrap ($4 per sheet), something that’s in short supply around Tribeca. Holiday designs are available, too.

CANIS MINOR
• My dog loves Skinneeez stuffingless animals, perhaps because the only thing below a pug on the food chain is a limp miniature stuffed animal ($5).

ADELINE ADELINE
• Kokua’s kids’ bike has wide tires to make learning easy ($499).
• DringDring cupcake bell ($29).
• A classy leather bike satchel ($385)—perfect for your big interview at the Department of Transportation.
• Beyond its usual array of funky bike helmets—love the watermelon one—Adeline Adeline has ones where you can swap in a new cover to suit your whim/outfit ($175).

PETTICOAT LANE
• Remi & Reid’s riveting bag ($119). See what I did there?
• Like a robe, but less apt to make the wearer look clinically depressed: Oscar de la Renta Pink Label caftan ($86).
