Seen & Heard: Franklin Street Family Day

Goat on a Boat's production of "Princess and the Pea"

••• On Saturday, Dec. 11, a bunch of business on Franklin Street are hosting the Franklin Street Family Day. Goat on a Boat Puppet Theater will perform “Little Red Riding Hood” for free at R 20th Century (10:30 a.m. and noon; RSVP at r@r20thcentury.com), where an exhibit of Renate Müller’s toys is currently up. Burton Wells Photographers will be at Bu and the Duck, taking free vintage portraits. Playgarden is allowing free playground access 3–4:30 p.m. Fashion line Rogan will have a pop-up shop; Steven Alan is giving 20% off the Steven Alan Collection, and Bu and the Duck is offering 10% off the entire store.

••• Ran into Keri Kunzle of Maslow 6 the other morning at Kaffe 1668, and she was excited about an upcoming event at the wine store: Austrian winemaker Leo Hillinger—who appears to cut a vivid swath—will be there Sunday, Dec. 12, for a special tasting. It’s $40, but you get canapés from (where else?) Blaue Gans.

••• From Fountain Pen Hospital: “Pen Show! Stop by the store today, tomorrow, or Saturday. We’ve got lots of show-only specials and some really nice gifts at the door!”

••• I just saw on Twitter that Lance Lappin salon has always trimmed people’s bangs for free—even if they didn’t get their hair cut there.

••• From the Flea: “Come to the 10 p.m. performance of Looking at Christmas on Friday for only $10! Use Code NITE10.”

••• Grown & Sewn and Skot Foreman Fine Art—which has a Warhol show going up Dec. 9—are having a holiday party on Dec. 17, 6–10 p.m.

••• This Sunday’s New Amsterdam Market will feature more than 20 New York wineries, with tastings and—after noon—glasses for sale.
