••• Crewcuts—J. Crew’s kids’ brand—is celebrating its opening at 50 Hudson on Feb. 1 with a party from noon to 4 p.m. I’m assuming we’re invited, seeing as how Crewcuts is making all sorts of efforts to reach out to the community—there will be cupcakes from Tribeca Treats, and “a percentage of every dollar you spend between Feb. 1 and Feb. 16 will be donated to Friends of the Hudson River Park.” It always makes me wonder when the percentage isn’t specified…. In any event, there will also be a balloon artist and hot chocolate.
••• Today from ScoutMob: Save $25 at Keg no. 229, the new beer restaurant on Front Street. (ScoutMob’s deals are only available for one day—you have to buy it today but you have longer to use it—as I learned yesterday when I didn’t get around to posting the one about Il Matto. Sorry about that.)
••• Color Me Mine appears ready to reopen any minute at 92 Reade. The word is that the owners of the Franklin Street franchise, Ed and Macarena, aren’t involved. Stay tuned for clarification….
••• On Feb. 3 at 6 p.m., Australian singer-songwriter Sam Willoughby (click to hear a sample of his music) will be performing at Pelavin Gallery.
••• @LMCCC tweeted that “Tribeca water main work to start on Franklin Street in early February.”
••• On its Facebook page, Greenwich Hotel posted a fun portfolio of photos of Tribeca storefronts, which I fully intend to pillage next time I need a shot of a local business….
