What’s Up This Weekend

Just a few of the highlights from the calendar for this weekend. More info on these—and the full calendar—is here.

••• Friday at City Winery: John Wesley Harding’s Cabinet of Wonders: “The original Cabinet of Wonders were precursors to the modern museum; a microcosm of the world itself. John Wesley Harding’s Cabinet of Wonders does much the same, with added rock ‘n’ roll.”

••• Saturday through Monday, New Amsterdam Market is having a special indoor Valentine’s Day market at 224 Front St. You can expect chocolate, ice cream, pastries, nuts, and more.

••• Poets House is screening The Red Balloon for kids, who can also stick around and learn to make a poetry mobile. Free. The video above is not for kids, by the way. (Saturday)

••• At 92YTribeca, meanwhile, you can watch Let’s Go Native (1930) followed by Ruggles of Red Gap (1935). From the description of Let’s Go Native: “This loosey-goosey Pre-Code musical is McCarey at his most irreverent, a perfect reflection of an era in which value and stability had gone down the toilet so the only appropriate attitude was ‘Screw it, let’s have some fun.’ (Unavailable in any form for decades, the film will screen in a new print.)”

••• At BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center on Sunday: kids’ musical “Click, Clack, Moo.”

••• As for ongoing stuff, you might consider the Andy Warhol exhibit at Skot Foreman Fine Art (which shares space with Grown & Sewn at 184 Duane); it has been extended through the end of the month. As you can see below, there’s even an appeal for kids.
