••• That was quick: Columbine has moved next door.
••• I asked the Hideaway when it’d be reopening (after the fire), and here’s what they said: “All we’re sure of is that it will be within the month of March. Lots of improvements… and lots of red tape.”
••• Local artist Coco Masuda has opened a “Smile for Japan!” shop on her website. The toddler’s T-shirt at left—just one of the items available—is $18. Proceeds go to Japan disaster relief (via the Japan Society).
••• According to StreetEasy, the 7th-floor apartment at 33 Vestry is in contract; it was listed at $6.45 million.
••• Big sale today and tomorrow only at the Tribeca Spa of Tranquility. (What’s new?)
••• Whole Foods Tribeca is now delivering to Jersey City, a.k.a. the ninth borough, in case you’re thinking of moving there.
••• I had an I-love-NY moment yesterday. I entered my building around 7:30 p.m., and a neighbor was at the mailboxes, merrily humming—singing, really—a “toodle-doodle-doo” sort of song. A young man was holding the elevator door, and he nodded for me to get in. When my neighbor arrived at the elevator, he started laughing, then he slurred that the young man was Gary from Mudville. Gary explained that my neighbor had left his lottery ticket at the bar, and Gary had checked it to see if it was a winner—indeed it was, for $5K. He realized it was my neighbor’s ticket, and he tracked him down. My neighbor had clearly been celebrating. You don’t get this sort of thing in the suburbs.
••• UPDATE: BlackboardEats.com has a 30% off deal at the Harrison. You have to pay $1 upfront.
••• Thrillist has a deal on the New York Academy of Art’s Tribeca Ball: “Open cocktail bar + exclusive access to the invite-only after party [at Theater Bar] on 4/4.” I don’t think it qualifies as “exclusive” once you start selling access on the Internet. Anyway, this photo cracks me up, though it would have been funnier if the codger were holding the painting.
