Seen & Heard: Museum Deal

The New York City Police Museum’s new Junior Discovery Zone for kids age 3-10.

••• I know I just said that I wouldn’t post deals, but I also said I’d be open to posting a good one, like this one from DoodleDeals, for one year’s family membership to the New York City Police Museum down by the Seaport. Your family may not go to the museum enough to make it worthwhile, but members of the NYCPM have reciprocity privileges with other museums—so you’ll get “free admission to a dozen other city museums, including the Intrepid and the NYC Fire Museum.”

••• From Tribeca Soho Animal Hospital: “We started up our first Facebook deal today. Whoever comes to our clinic and ‘checks in’ with the phone will get a free HomeAgain microchip. Of course this means we will chip your pet, so make sure to bring your cat or dog with you.” At first, I thought they were offering to put a chip inside pet owners, too.

••• This belongs in “In the News,” but I just posted that item and it’s time-sensitive: “Thanks to lunch’er Celine for passing along that the Air France Gourmet Food Truck is on Wall St. btw. William & Hanover today giving out free food. Lunch hours are from noon to 2 p.m. and you can also get “dinner” starting at 4:30 (Early bird special!).” That’s from Midtown Lunch, via @downtownlunch. Then again, airline food served from a truck doesn’t sound hugely appealing, even if it’s French.

••• Here’s a little “Metropolitan Diary” moment for you: I was walking on Hudson by Duane Park yesterday, passing a family of four, when one of the kids (he was around 10) yelled, “Oh my God, it’s a zebra!” He pointed to 60 Hudson, where sure enough, there was a zebra—of the inflatable variety, most likely from Balloon Saloon—coming out of the lobby. “Oh, never mind,” he said, but his family gave him grief anyway.

••• Tribeca Treats did the cake for last night’s opening party of “How to Succeed in Business…”
