Seen & Heard: Tiny’s Opening

••• I had heard that Tiny’s was opening for lunch tomorrow (Friday), but then when I stopped by a little while ago, they said it’s friends-and-family till Monday, when it opens for lunch at 11:30 a.m.; dinner won’t be served until the beginning of May. They gave me a tour, by the way, and it’s very handsome in a rustic way.

••• Tribeca Film Festival has released info about getting into the opening-night screening The Union, Cameron Crowe’s documentary about the making of Elton John’s new record with Leon Russell, on Apr. 20: At 4 p.m. that day, wristbands will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis at the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center (West Street entrance, just north of Chambers). Two wristbands per person. The screening will begin at 8:15 p.m., with programming beginning as early as 7:30 p.m., at the World Financial Center Plaza. After the screening, Elton John will perform.

••• The other day on Twitter, someone asked if Tribeca had any $1 pizza joints. We soon will: Something called Roll and Go is coming to Broadway and Franklin. Between this and Cheap Maggie’s, Broadway doesn’t appear to be gentrifying anytime soon.

••• From Manhattan Youth re: Pier 25’s beach volleyball courts: “If you’re interested in a seasonal court rental, email pier25@manhattanyouth.org for more information. Our Friday Nights Teen Volleyball League will begin in 2 1/2 weeks but please register now. For more information, go to manhattanyouth.org or contact Marshall Coleman at mc@marshalcoleman.com.”

••• Updates on the Tribeca Citizen calendar: 1) The Matt Bernson (shoes) sample sale will start Apr. 29 at 11 a.m. 2) The main CB1 meeting on Apr. 26 will be at the very grand Broad Street Ballroom (41 Broad) instead of Claremont Prep. 3) The Fountain Pen Hospital’s spring expo is this Saturday and Sunday.

••• From Plein Sud: “Come downtown and celebrate on Thursday, April 28, and enjoy complimentary aperitif and hors d’oevres prepared by executive chef Ed Cotton served from 5pm-8pm.”
