••• It’s about time: City Councilmember Margaret Chin is introducing legislation that will penalize people who are caught purchasing counterfeit items; buyers could be fined $1,000. P.S. ••• “Battery [Place] Market, which opened last October at the corner of Battery Place and Third Place, will be expanding to a satellite location within the Goldman Sachs complex, according to two employees at the store, who asked not to be identified. ••• “The much-anticipated German beer garden at the South Street Seaport may not open this spring after all. Telly Hatzigeorgiou withdrew his liquor license application for the Pier 17 space, saying Community Board 1 had placed so many restrictions on him that he would not be able to operate the venue profitably. “I’m not sure what we’re doing at this point,” Hatzigeorgiou told DNAinfo Wednesday.” (DNAinfo)

••• Don Hill’s has closed: “[Nur] Khan said, ‘After the unexpected passing of Don Hill, there was no doubt in my mind about continuing his legacy by bringing in incredible talent […]. Unfortunately, the property offered a moneymaking opportunity unconcerned with preserving Don’s legacy. I will be sad to see the doors close as it was such a passion project for me.’ Ponte Equities didn’t return our calls.” Sounds like I was right back in March. (New York Post)
