Seen & Heard: Steven Alan Sample Sale

••• Something big seems to be happening on the ground floor of the northwest corner of Broadway and Franklin. (That’s the building that got the unfortunate face-lift.) Across the street, on the southeast corner, The $1 pizza joint Roll and Go is open. I think they should call this Terroryaki.

••• Steven Alan‘s sample sale/rugby scrum will be at 87 Franklin May 19–22; the hours on Thursday and Friday are 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday 11 a.m. t o 7 p.m.; Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Credit cards accepted.

••• Want farm-fresh veggies? The Downtown CSA (with pickup at 92YTribeca) is accepting sign-ups. Info here.

••• Something quirky is going on at Jack Hanley Gallery: “Artist Jadranka Kosorcic is looking for people (m/f) willing to pose for a portrait May 11 through June 9 (portraits will be drawn on site at the Jack Hanley Gallery). Times available: Tuesday – Saturday: 8-11am or 6-9pm. Monday and Sunday: 8am – 9pm.” It takes one to three hours; if you’re interested—I signed up—email a photo and preferred day/time to kosorcic@hotmail.com. “The drawn portraits will be part of Jadranka Kosorcic’s solo exhibition at the Jack Hanley Gallery June 10–July 2, 2011.”

••• Tiny Furniture auteur Lena Dunham is shooting in Tribeca again, this time tomorrow up near Greenwich and Watts for her HBO show “Girls.” Says the flyer: “The series follows the assorted life experiences and rare triumphs of a group of friends in their early twenties in present-day New York.” Only the rare triumph? Someone needs to hook Lena up with antidepressants.
