“Uncharted,” the New York Academy of Art’s 2011 MFA thesis exhibition, opens with a party. An arty party!
Tuesday
Today’s special is Schadenfreude: “The great-great-great-great-granddaughter of Cornelius Vanderbilt, Wendy Burden, offers an irreverent look at the decline of the family dynasty.” At 92YTribeca. Left: Gloria.
Wednesday

Thursday
The Steven Alan sample sale kicks off today (through Sunday), so if you see hipsters loitering around Franklin Street, don’t call 311. Or do! ••• Zachariah OHora, author of Stop Snoring, Bernard!, is at Moomah. ••• Lawrence Block promotes his new book, A Drop of the Hard Stuff, at Mysterious Bookshop. A drop of the hard stuff might be good what what ails Bernard, come to think of it.
Friday
The “Lost Jazz Shrines” series is at the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center with a tribute to the clubs of 52nd Street.
Saturday
The 17th annual Taste of Tribeca, which benefits two schools but is also a good time in its own right; le tout Tribeca—and then some—will be there. Preview here. Right: Last year’s event. ••• It’s My Park Day! at Washington Market Park: “Our Park Gardener will give instructions to children on how to plant flowers like impatiens and marigolds, as well as summer and fall flowering bulbs like gladiolus. We will have some kids’ gardening gloves and trowels, but if you have your own please bring them.” ••• Earth Celebrations’ Hudson River Pageant travels from the WFC to Gansevoort Street. ••• The Hudson Vagabond Puppets present “Ferdinand the Bull” at the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center.
Sunday
“La Roma Ebraica: The Choir of Rome’s Tempio Maggiore in Concert” at the Museum of Jewish Heritage: “This once-in-a-lifetime concert will feature Verdi’s beloved Hebrew chorus from Nabucco and other beautiful and evocative works that embody Jewish life in Rome throughout the ages.”

“Immortalize” is a show at RH Gallery with works by Harry & Camila Studio and Fredrik Färg: “The title of the exhibition refers to the immortalization of natural elements, forms and movements in their recent work. Harry & Camila Studio will present three textiles from their Encapsulated Nature series and Dr. Bubbles on the Rocks, a chair cast in aluminum. Fredrik Färg will unveil new stools and ottomans from his Succession series.” Here’s “Succession 6 (Cabinet)”:
