This morning’s meeting between the NYPD and CB1 went as well as one might have reasonably hoped: The police have agreed to consider other spaces, the Tribeca Trib reports. “It’s a game of chess now,” one mounted officer is quoted as saying. “It would be nice to know what’s going on so we can all prepare.”

UPDATE #2: Since each and every one of you—except Smithers, from the sound of it—wrote to CB1 as directed requested, you probably already saw this email sent out on behalf of chairperson Julie Menin: “Thank you for writing to Community Board 1 with your concerns regarding the proposal to relocate the NYPD stables. I wanted to let you know that we met yesterday with the NYPD to discuss the proposal. At the meeting we proposed a number of alternatives and the NYPD agreed to look into other options. They also promised to be in communication with us before anything further is decided. As soon as I have more information, I will share it with you.”
