••• I had a fun coffee chocolate budino date at Locanda Verde with Tribecan Paulette Goto yesterday—you may recall her TCQ&A, which was one of my favorites, and if she’s not careful someday I’ll release the photos of her lying on a flatbed truck. Anyway, she’s currently one of the experts on the Cooking Channel’s “Unique Sweets,” which airs Sundays at 10:30 p.m. (channel 166 on Verizon).

••• Tribeca-based Luminary Labs has an in-house lunch challenge going on. “Last week, two analysts at Luminary Labs noted that while they love our office neighborhood, it was hard to eat lunch for less than $15 a day. So we gave them each $50 and challenged them to see if they could eat a healthy, filling lunch every day for one week. Four judges will score the analysts’ lunches each day on drool factor and USDA food plate factor. The participants will score eating experience and purchase experience. Bonus points will be awarded for organic or locally-sourced food, eco-friendly packaging, combination meal (bang for buck). The winner will be determined by the scores above and judges’ discretion. ••• Walker’s long-delayed expansion appears to be moving forward. I just called to ask if there was a timeline, and got a typically brusque no—but I did get an acknowledgment that yes, it is indeed progressing.
