Seen & Heard: Chipotle Is Coming

••• Saw this disturbing little art installation in City Hall Park yesterday. It’s bye artist Michael Mut: “When I see the amount of murder committed around the globe, I’m convinced that a breakthrough in love is much needed. As you follow the Still Counting installation, I hope you’ll join my Love Yourself Project and participate in creating a future of love for all people.” Go to stillcounting.net for more info.

••• California Closets has closed due to a water leak. It may have a while ago; I can’t remember the last time I was at that intersection.

••• Kool Bloo has opened on Church between Duane and Reade.

••• I knew it was a question of time! (Though I would’ve put it on Chambers.) Chipotle is coming to 281 Broadway, a.k.a. 57 Reade, the huge new glass building. Its liquor license application just showed up on the revised CB1 agendas.

••• From CB1 chair Julie Menin: “Tomorrow is the last day to register for Hand in Hand/Remembering 9/11. The response has been tremendous and thousands of people have signed up to link hands in a human chain from Battery Park heading north along the west side waterfront. In order to participate, you must register at www.handinhand911.org. Registration closes this evening.” (The “tomorrow”/”this evening” contradiction is confusing, so I’d assume you should simply register ASAP if you’re interested.)

••• Admission at the New Museum is free this Sunday, which could be handy if you find yourself locked out of your neighborhood by the police.

••• I’m getting out of town while they’re still letting cars leave. If you have photos or reports about the weekend’s festivities activities, send them to tribecacitizen@gmail.com.
