At the press preview for the 12th-annual Inside Tribeca Loft Tour—a benefit for Friends of Duane Park, which is responsible for taking care of the park—I got to check out three apartments (of the ten on the tour). This is 3,000 square feet and officially a three-bedroom, and the only reason I even point out it’s a rental is that I think it proves that rentals can have personality, too. The tenant, Tina Bech Lipman, got help from local design firm Sorelle Frienze.
• I counted five levels, although there could be more—there are bedrooms everywhere you look. (The effect is hard to capture in photos.) The tenant told us how her kids loved it immediately because it’s like a treehouse.
• More wonderful art, much of which is by “Tribeca women.” Plus: A Bert Stern photo of Marilyn with roses.
• The style is a little quirky, a little minimal: Ethiopian pillows, a rug from Housing Works, pillows that were made from scarves.
• Another adorable dog.
The self-guided tour is Oct. 16 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. But tickets now at duanepark.org for $50, or you can pay $55 at 12:30 p.m. on the day of the event at the park. Only 400 tickets are available, and the tour usually sells out.
