••• One World Trade Center has solved the problem of how to glass the base: “The base will be covered with glass louvers that are set at different angles on the base and lit from behind, creating an inviting atmosphere that would also reflect the nearby memorial honoring the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks. The glass is treated so it would pebble instead of shatter in case of an explosion, much like a car windshield does in a severe accident.” —Crain’s (via Curbed)

••• “On Wednesday night I attended PayPal’s Shopping Showcase in Tribeca. PayPal had a mockup of their digital wallet, a powerhouse application that provides a near seamless brick-and-mortar shopping experience. ‘If you can spend it (airline miles, online game credits, loyalty points, gift cards) PayPal will organize and safeguard it for you.'” —Ecommerce Bytes

••• “Over the summer, ex-Deutche Bank executive Michael Cohrs and his wife bought a giant Tribeca loft at 92 Laight Street, spending $11.5 million for the 3,838-square-foot loft. It looks like some walls will soon fall in the building, as the Cohrs have purchased another unit on the same floor for $5.7 million. […] By our tally, the couple now have six bedrooms and 8.5 baths spanning 6,500-square-feet on the twelfth floor of the highly coveted River Lofts development.” —New York Observer

••• “The October 14 sale of the ‘1,600 sq ft’ Manhattan loft #9A at 335 Greenwich Street (aka 20 Jay Street and the Hanover River House) earned the green on the Master List of Manhattan Lofts Sold Since November 2008 because the clearing price of $1,735,500 exceeded the asking price ($1.65mm), as you might have guessed there was a bidding war from that last $500. (I had buyers who were involved in that war, one set of seven bidders; more on that, anon.)” —Manhattan Loft Guy
