Seen & Heard: Happy Earth Day!

••• Happy Earth Day! I took this video of the Hudson River a week or so ago.

••• There’s a meeting about the Chambers Street construction coming up. See image at right for all the details.

••• Someone emailed me that Cosmopolitan Café is having an auction tomorrow (Monday)—not usually a good sign—but owner Craig Bero says not to worry: “We are indeed having an auction tomorrow but are not closing, we will be back open on Tuesday. With the opening of the back dining room at our bigger cafe (125 Chambers Street), which has full service (full American breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner with beer and wine), we are reorganizing a little bit: the little cafe (95 W. Broadway) will be offering continental breakfast, afternoon tea and a selection of savory and sweet crepes (also to go, to be enjoyed in the park or on the plaza across the street). We’ll be using local fruit and vegetables from farmer’s market producers we have know for years. We are also bringing back our little old fashioned ice cream parlor for the summer. P.S. Can you let your readers know that we are having a tag sale with many original items and memorabilia collected from the neighborhood over the past 30 years? The auction is 2:30 at the little cafe, we’ll have the tag sale in the back room (125 Chambers) afterward as an open house with refreshments.”

••• I was in Charleston this week when I was surprised to see that Damon Dash’s vintage shop has taken it on the road. By the way, I’ve got a pocketful of Charleston suggestions, if you’re going anytime soon.
