Seen & Heard: Tribeca Canvas

••• I make it a general rule not to take photos inside not-yet-open restaurants, but rules, broken, etc. Because Tribeca Canvas, Masaharu Morimoto’s looooong-gestating restaurant on upper Church is really coming along! And they keep leaving the door open. As Rita Mae Brown once said, “Lead me not into temptation; I can find the way myself.”

••• New produce you can expect at Saturday’s Tribeca Greenmarket: cherries, currants, blueberries, yellow and green beans, romano beans, cranberry beans, summer squash, kirby cucumbers, and Thai basil. (And there were peaches today.)  Also: On Saturday at 11 a.m.: The Annual cherry-pit spitting contest.

••• From Friends of Hudson River Park: “This 4th of July, you’re invited to Hudson River Park’s Pier 84 for an evening of family, friends, and fun! Enjoy a front row view of Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks, food for the whole family and an open bar for the adults.” Proceeds go to the park. Buy tickets here.

••• I was walking back from the Seaport Museum today—more on that tomorrow or maybe Friday—when I passed Mobili de Angelis, the interior design showroom on Front Street, and I remembered that I had recently noticed it’s now selling dishes and objects. I popped in to take two quick photos….
