July 13, 2012 Events, Restaurant/Bar News, Shopping
••• Starting Monday Tuesday: Wichcraft begins serving its excellent BLT. The chain refuses to do it earlier because tomatoes aren’t good enough, something I wish more restaurants would do.
••• And on Monday Tuesday, Potbelly Sandwich Shop is opening another restaurant downtown, this one at 90 Broad. Free sandwiches from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. [Sorry about the wrong dates; not sure why I can’t understand that July 17 is Tuesday, not Monday. And the free lunch was invitation-only, and it’s over now.]
••• This Sunday at New Amsterdam Market: “We are thrilled to announce that the Wild Food Gatherers Guild of Vermont has just discovered a flush of wild chanterelles which they will bring to New Amsterdam Market this week only.”
••• “A Matter of Taste,” the documentary about Corton chef Paul Liebrandt, was nominated for an Emmy (the category is Outstanding Arts and Cultural Programming…?).
••• On July 28 (2-5 p.m.), Pen Parentis is hosting a kids’ book confab aboard the Lilac, docked at pier 25.
••• Vera Wang is shooting a commercial on W. Broadway on Monday night.
