Seen & Heard: Exploring Space on White

••• The folks at Space on White invited me by the other day for a tour; for no good reason, I had never been there. It’s a collection of spaces, actually, that can be used for rehearsals, classes, events, and so on. (The emphasis is decidedly artsy—each of the rooms has a piano.) When founder Chasten Harmon—who spent the last two years touring in Les Misérables—said that she has always wanted to throw a Halloween party there, I thought, Yes. Or one of those immersive theater experiences like Sleep No More. Well, it turns out that one of the art groups in residence, AliveWire Theatrics, is planning something along those lines.

••• SW BW Dental is opening at 108 Duane. I clearly need to work on my facial expression when I floss….

••• Bring your Olympic medal to Bubby’s and you’ll get free lunch or dinner. Just so you know.

••• Duane Park restaurant’s move to the Bowery has been pushed back to January-ish.

••• I was just walking down Cortlandt Alley and I saw a taxi with police tape around it. Right as a nearby man yelled, “Forensics!” I noticed the garden hose running from the exhaust pipe to the window. Heartbreaking. Sorry to even bring it up—especially in this context—but I needed to share it in order to get rid of it.

••• From Troy Torrison: “Walking home yesterday I saw workers taking down the scaffold around the elegant (and currently trashed) 346 Broadway. I asked what they were doing and they said they were putting a new scaffold up to replace the rotten, rusted old one that has been there for at least 15 years. A sad state of affairs.”
