Seen & Heard: White & Church Is Open

••• Thanks to Ingrid for sending over a photo of the fire that happened yesterday afternoon on Church (between Duane and Reade).

••• I just heard from Matteo Boglione at White & Church, who emailed this (in response to my asking what was up over there): “i’m still open but just as bar, people understand this place as a bar more than restaurant, plus my hours are from 5 pm to 11 and if i have business i keep open till 1 am.”

••• The Asphalt Green rally is now a meeting—see flier at left for details—but no less important for it.

••• Sweet Lily Natural Nail Spa will be closed Oct 15-28 for repairs and renovations.

••• Maybe this was on the Community Board 1 agendas before, but if so I didn’t notice it. The Executive Committee meeting on Oct. 17 includes “Greenwich Street Amenities – Presentation by NYC Department of Transportation.” What are they up to now? (Actually, it was listed on an agenda update sent out yesterday, but it’s not listed on CB’s website.)

••• Opening Oct. 26 at the Walkerspace Access Theater: “A demented twist on a terrifying tragedy, the Crook Theater Company‘s ‘Macbeth’ mines the Scottish play for deep horror and dark comedy.  […] This gender-bending adaptation highlights most frightening aspects of Shakespeare’s story, setting the play in a bleak future full of violence and betrayal, and devoid of hope. Demons, witches, zombies, and bloody murder make this the perfect Halloween treat!”
