••• As the “for lease” sign in the window indicates, Artflag is leaving its Jay Street storefront, where it’s been since 1985. I called to ask where they’re moving to, and I was told probably New Jersey—they’ll cross that river when they lease the space (which they own; it includes the basement).
••• I had lunch at Da Mikele today and at the bar was a bottle of vodka that supposedly tastes like “white cake.” I needed to share it in order to get rid of it.
••• A reader points out that Josephine is now serving dog food. In addition to human food, I should add!
••• From Community Board 2: “Where will your children go to middle school?” I recommend Switzerland. “This is a question that plagues parents in the Village. After years of focused energy by parents, community members and elected officials, 75 Morton is on deck to become a new school for the Greenwich Village. What type of school should it be? Come to an informational session on Thursday, January 17 to learn more. The session will focus on specifics about: the building and area; ideas from local schools for the types of school(s) to house in the building; updates from elected officials; next steps and how to voice your opinions. The meeting will take place on Thursday, January 17, 6:30-8:30 PM, at PS41, 116 W. 11th St. It is sponsored by Community Board No. 2 and the Community Education Council of District 2. For more information, email 75morton@cb2manhattan.org.”
••• The Indian restaurant coming to the old Bon Chon Chicken space on Chambers will be called Saffron Fresh Indian.
