••• From a Community Board 2 member: “Community Board 2, the Community Education Council District 2 and many other community groups have advocated for 75 Morton to become a middle school for over six years and the DOE is now moving forward! At our January 17 Information Session, the School Construction Authority asked for our recommendation by this June for what type of school(s) our community wants at 75 Morton. […] Please join us at CB 2 and CECD2’s 75 Morton Street Task Force Open Public Forum on Monday, April 22, 2013 from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm in the PS 41 Auditorium, located at 116 W. 11th St. 75 Morton is centrally located in the West Village and is an ideal facility for a new District 2 middle school. It is a 7-story, 177,000 square foot building that the DOE is in the process of purchasing from NY State. The Task Force is hopeful that 75 Morton could open as early as Fall 2015, in time for current third grade students to attend.”
