Some people probably consider the irregular window patterns you still see around here as a demerit, and the obsessive-compulsive in me would like to create order by popping in a few more windows here and there. But I think they might lend more character to the neighborhood than we think—they’re a reminder of when “development” happened one floor at a time, and a respite from the symmetrical perfection of new buildings. I imagine many of them, like in the final photo below, are endangered species.
