Seen & Heard: Free Multimedia Spectacular

••• From Brookfield Place: “On Thursday, September 19, visionary pianist Marco Benevento will present a free multi-media concert experience at Brookfield Place’s Winter Garden that promises to create a musical happening on par with Andy Warhol and the Velvet Underground’s Exploding Plastic Inevitable, Pink Floyd’s 14 Hour Technicolor Dream and U2’s Zoo TV. The event, known as “Hubris Means Nothing to Me” “A Circuit Bent Piano Rock Picture Show In Exploding Color,” will team Benevento and his band up with maverick video artist Jay Cooper, costumes, dancers, and other shenanigans. The audience is encouraged to dress to impress.” Bring out your best Lululemon, folks! UPDATE 9/5: Those comparisons weren’t meant to be public.

••• Now at Babesta: “Babesta Beat! It’s basically a shop-able magazine/catalog, where everything is available at Babesta. We have copies of the mag in store (hard copies) and an online version that’s shoppable. We basically spent our summer working like crazy people getting this thing in order, and we’re super excited about it! Inside you’ll find an interview with cutting-edge kids designer Cassandra Rhodin (Mini Rodini), top picks for traveling to London with family with blogger Florence Rolando, 15 must-have kids’ trends, a back-to-school playlist with 10-year-old DJ Fulano, top 10 ways you know you’ve got a city kid, and a cool fashion story–meets–children’s story, ‘Mimi & the Magic Forest,’ shot in the Berkshires.”

••• Coming up at Soho Rep: “Two shows that are among the biggest the organization has ever produced: the New York premiere of David Adjmi’s Marie Antoinette and Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ An Octoroon.”

••• From the Brooke Jackman Foundation: “On Saturday, September 7, the Brooke Jackman Foundation will host the 4th Annual BJF Read-a-thon to help make the magic of literacy and the love of books a reality for disadvantaged children in New York.” It’s 12–1:30 p.m. at Barnes & Noble Tribeca.”
