March 12, 2014 Restaurant/Bar News
I’ll have the full report from tonight’s meeting of the Community Board 1 Tribeca Committee in the morning, but the only real news (which isn’t to say there wasn’t drama) was regarding Pier 26 at Hudson River Park.
The agenda mentioned the boathouse, but first Hudson River Park Trust rep Nicole Dooskin mentioned that the restaurant won’t open till next summer. Not a huge surprise given the state of construction, but disappointing just the same.
In better news, the Downtown Boathouse (which is also at Pier 40) was chosen to run the boathouse (in the same building as the restaurant), and it should open early this spring—they’re waiting on permits. The boathouse will have 200 kayaks, and they’ll continue to be free to take for a spin. You can also launch yoru own, so long as you have a permit from the Parks Department.

Eric,
Did the HRP rep mention who is going to run the restaurant or any other results of their RFP?
Nope. (I would certainly have mentioned that!)
Any mention whether there will be space for storage of private kayaks by neighborhood residents?
Nope. I imagine we’ll learn more when the boathouse opens (if you reach out to Downtown Boathouse, please report back).
