••• Added to the agenda for Wednesday’s meeting of CB1’s Tribeca Committee: Terroir Tribeca wants to upgrade its liquor license. Assuming that meant hard liquor, I asked Terroir’s Paul Grieco, who replied, “Yes, Terroir | Tribeca is applying for a full liquor license. Our hope in acquiring it is to serve a surfeit of primarily after-dinner beverages (cognac / armagnac / calvados / eau de vie / brandy) + a host of other sipping sprits (barrel-aged bourbons / single malts / mezcal). We do not plan to become an overt bar…we are still focusing on wine and beer and food but we want to round out the experience.”
••• Also of note were these two additions to CB1’s Seaport/Civic Center agenda for Jan. 20:
—Rebuilding Brooklyn Banks Skate Park & other active recreation space underneath the Brooklyn Bridge – Discussion & possible resolution
—Thomas Paine Park: Temporary Public Artwork – Presentation by Jennifer Lantzas, Public Art Coordinator, Department of Parks and Recreation & Dee Briggs, Artist (Thomas Paine Park is the northeast corner of Foley Square; the pic below is one of Dee Briggs’s works)
••• Check out the Woolworth Building storefronts being opened up along Park Place. Trying to remember what was there before (if anything…?).
••• The new Hideaway in the Seaport (in the old Meade’s space on Peck Slip) has been semi-soft-0pened for a while now, but this Wednesday it’s opening hard with a party to which all are invited.
••• The James hotel on Grand is unveiling “a new public art project” on Jan. 22. Waiting to hear if it’ll be visible from the street. Update from Dee: “I work right there and it is basically a giant mural along the 6th Ave facing wall, right at street level. I’ve been watching them paint it. It’s covered with vinyl sheets but strong winds have been blowing them down.”
