There’s a sign for Jin Soon at 37 Walker, most recently home to Esoteric and Sumo gallery. “Known for her elegant simplicity, Jin Soon Choi is one of the most influential nail artists in the industry,” says the company’s website. She has three nail salons—on the Upper East Side and in the West and East Villages (“all designed by her architect husband John Coughlan”)—and a line of polish.
I called to ask if the Walker space would be used for offices or a salon. The person I spoke with was a bit cagey, saying it’s offices “for now” and that “maybe in a few months” it’ll become a salon. Personally, I think we can assume it will. (I tried tweeting @JinSoon for a media rep, to no avail.) The other three salons (below) are quite attractive, and it’s easy to see how 37 Walker, with its catwalk, would be catnip.
For the record, Jin Soon is actually really incredible. It feels more like it belongs in the spa category than the nail salon category.
