Downtown Express has discovered that the iconic Ladder 8 firehouse at Hudson and N. Moore—widely known, of course, from Ghostbusters—will close soon for a three-year gut renovation: “The FDNY has to evaluate rebids to do the work before deciding when the project will begin, how long it will take, and how much it will cost.” Evidently the floor has to be replaced because today’s trucks weigh much more than they used to. In the meantime, “Ladder 8 will be relocated to another house, but it’s not yet decided where.” And be extra careful with matches….
Just because: An old post about Orion Pax’s recreation of the firehouse in Legos.
Who we gonna call?
Good one!
Call:
311 for smoke
911 for fire
CB1 for a good laugh
Perfect, Robert! Haha
3 years?!? This firehouse was already saved once from closure. I predict it will re-open on the same day that the police horses are brought back to the stables at the 1st precinct.
James might be right…. this is not good
Looks permanent to me, Outrageous!
Well they are looking to remake Ghostbusters…
I think this building should be condemned. There’s serious metal fatigue in all the load-bearing members, the wiring is substandard, it’s completely inadequate for our power needs, and the neighborhood is like a demilitarized zone.
Wow, this place is great! When can we move in? You gotta try this pole. I’m gonna get my stuff. Hey. We should stay here. Tonight. Sleep here. You know, to try it out.
