The public meeting notice at 349 Greenwich (formerly Dean’s) says that the restaurant opening there is to be called WayFarer. That would shift the suspicion away from Tyler Florence’s Wayfare Tavern in San Francisco and back toward New York’s Wayfarer. I thought it could be unrelated—The Wayfarer in Midtown doesn’t capitalize the F, and this wouldn’t be the first time that a new restaurant has taken the name of an existing one. But then I Googled “349 Greenwich Street LLC.” The address for the trademark registration is ESquared Hospitality; among the company’s many restaurants (including the BLT ones) is The Wayfarer.

We’ll have to wait till the Community Board 1 Tribeca Committee meeting on Sept. 9 to find out if this Wayfarer will be cut from the same cloth as the Midtown one, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
