Seen & Heard: Trick-or-Treating Update

••• A reader sent word (and pic) that 12 Warren is getting unveiled.

12 Warren••• An old-school artist’s loft is for sale: “Longtime Tribeca artist residents selling their cond-op loft: 2200 sq. feet on the epicenter block of chic Tribeca; yours to purchase and transform. Why settle for someone else’s architectural vision when you can create your own? Perfect rambling space, large north facing windows, and some south as well, designated roof space for central air. Live like an artist now, or take down to bones and create your own magic.” The asking price is $2.7 million. Email tribecacitizen@gmail.com and I’ll forward it along.

••• It looks like kids get two chances to dress up for Halloween this year. The Friends of Washington Market Park Parade is on Sunday, Oct. 25, but Duane Park Patisserie and Torly Kid say they’ll be handing out treats to trick-or-treaters on Saturday, Oct. 31 (starting at noon and 3 p.m. respectively). Local businesses! Please tell me when you plan on offering entitlements. UPDATE: Boomerang Toys is handing out candy on Halloween, too. (“As usual our staff will be all dressed up!”) And Reade Street Animal Hospital will be doing it from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

••• Opening Nov. 4 at Soho Photo: “The winning entries in the 11th Annual National Alternative Processes Competition, as well as exhibitions of alternative processes prints by artists of the Penumbra Foundation and artists of Soho Photo Gallery. […] The images submitted for this competition utilized a wide range of alternative methods, including ambrotype, cyanotype, Van Dyke brown, platinum/palladium, photogravure, salt print, tintype, and wet-plate collodion, among others.”

Curated by Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath of Art Reoriented, it features a number of seminal works, ranging from photography and video to installation and sculpture.” Below: “Broken lens I.”

••• Laura sent in a construction update on 111 Murray (along with these two photos): “They seem to be doing a lot of stuff below ground level; the big yellow drill-like things get moved around a lot but not much in the way of visible changes so far.”
