Seen & Heard: Gucci and Ermenegildo Zegna Are Open

••• Took the in-laws to the 9/11 Memorial on Saturday afternoon. Holy moly, were there ever a lot of people there! (I guess I only ever go in the morning and/or on weekdays.) In any event, we could get a sense of what the Oculus will look like when the roof is opened once a year.

World Trade Center Transportation Hub oculus••• Hand On! is having an instrument sale (in advance of its closing).

Hands On••• Blast from the past! Spartina, which was in the Maison Kayser space before the Harrison, is opening in L.A. From an L.A. Times article about it: “Spartina will be a reincarnation of a restaurant he opened in New York City in 1993, also called Spartina. [Chef Stephen] Kalt described the East Coast version as focusing on Mediterranean, Spanish, southern Italian and north African flavors. “The 2015 version, L.A. style, is more Italian, more market-driven with pizza and pasta. But it’s not a red sauce restaurant.”

••• “What’s going in the old Rheanne White space at 14 Jay?” asked Dillon Peña on Twitter. “It’s currently under renovation.” Anyone know anything?

••• The 1st Precinct Community Council next meeting is Thursday, Dec. 10, 6:30 p.m., at the 1st Precinct. The email reminder also included this: “The ‘Planning and Response to an Active Shooter: An Interagency Security Committee Policy and Best Practices Guide,’ initially released in July of 2015 for use by departments and agencies and considered For Official Use Only, has been revised for public release so the materials in the document can be used by a wider audience.” There’s more on this website.

••• The Gucci and Ermenegildo Zegna stores at Brookfield Place are open. (The latter is down that hall.)

  1. We walked down that hall (to Zegna) on Sunday, to find the store closed. That’s a long hallway with little encouragement on the way – what a price to pay for West Street exposure.

  2. I was in Zenga Saturday evening. Beautiful store and great sales manager.
